2014, No. 32 Overall

Original Pick: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
Re-draft Pick: Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State (No. 53 overall)

Part of me wanted to leave this pick as Teddy Bridgewater, largely due to the impact he had on the franchise and the love that fans had for him. Unfortunately, his heartbreaking injury put a damper on any sort of bright future he had when he was still with Minnesota.

So instead, I went with Davante Adams. In hindsight, there were plenty of intriguing options at the end of Day 1. A couple of offensive linemen were considered, and even Adams’ running mate at Fresno State (Derek Carr) was momentarily pondered. In the end, though, I couldn’t pass on an elite receiver.

Sure, the Vikings have had some quality pass catchers since then. But could you imagine a receiving trio of Adams, Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. I’m sure Diggs would have grown annoyed of the situation sooner with more targets going Adams’ way, and maybe Thielen never gets a shot with Adams on the roster. The possibilities are endless.

The key here: Minnesota drafting Adams takes him away from the Green Bay Packers. It’s a win-win, the best kind of way.
