Minnesota Vikings: 5 Biggest needs to address in 2020 NFL Draft
2. Offensive line
When you have a quarterback to the caliber of Kirk Cousins and a running game that is led by running back Dalvin Cook, it is extremely important to have a solid offensive line in front of both of those players to bring out their best during the season.
Unfortunately for the Vikings, their offensive line has been extremely inconsistent over the last handful of seasons and once again was the case in 2019.
The offensive line showed flashed throughout last season of its ability to be a consistent and protective group, but overall the line was just too inconsistent and still needs some improvements within it.
In the 2019 NFL Draft, Minnesota selected Garrett Bradbury, who was inserted at center last year, and that move proved to be a solid one now looking back at the season at large.
With two first-round draft picks here in 2020, one of those selections should be on an offensive lineman in hopes of finding another Bradbury-type stud in the bottom half of the opening round.
If Minnesota doesn’t view any of the available offensive linemen on the board at the end of the first round as a first-round talent and the Vikings feel like that player would be available in a later round, the purple and gold could then pick up a lineman in the second or third rounds at the latest.
The offensive line unit is one of the more important aspects to an offense, and Minnesota’s front line needs to address this area in the draft to be able to open up holes in the run game and protect Cousins in the pocket this season.
