Cleveland Browns trade back twice in 7-round 2020 mock draft
The Cleveland Browns reportedly want to trade back in the first round and they do so twice to get their guy and more picks in this 7-round 2020 mock draft.
Trying to rebound from spectacularly unmet hype from last season won’t be easy for the Cleveland Browns. Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr. and the Dawg Pound came into 2019 with an absurd amount of buzz and they fell flat. But after another strong showing in free agency and with Kevin Stefanski taking over as head coach, a strong 2020 NFL Draft showing could put them in position to be the team in 2020 they were supposed to be the year prior.
While many have projected the Browns for months as in line to take one of the consensus best offensive tackles in the 2020 draft with the No. 10 pick, that may not happen. The latest rumors have suggested that Cleveland has another player in mind and is interested in trading down to get him while acquiring more picks. And the Denver Broncos have reportedly emerged as a willing trade partner.
That makes for a different type of outlook for what Cleveland could do in the 2020 NFL Draft — but it could also end up in their best interest to make a leap to compete for a playoff spot. We see just how well they can accomplish that in this 7-round mock draft five days from the start of the draft on April 23.

TRADE ALERT: Browns trade No. 10 to Broncos for No. 15 and 83 | Browns trade No. 15 and 83 to Eagles for No. 21 and 53
As has been reported as a possibility, the Cleveland Browns trade back out of the No. 10 pick with the Denver Broncos (who move up for Henry Ruggs III) and get No. 15 and 83 in return. However, if the Browns are moving back and trying to take Ezra Cleveland, they should take advantage of another wide receiver-needy team if they have the chance, which they do here. They trade the picks acquired from Denver to move back to No. 21 but also acquire another second-rounder.
Finally settled just outside the top 20 selections, the Browns get Cleveland out of Boise State, who they seem to have pegged as their guy. It’s not hard to see why any team would covet him given how well he moves for a player his size. For the Kevin Stefanski offense, he’s an ideal mover that could be a perfect fit. He requires some coaching and NFL strength training to get a bit more pop but the baseline athletic tools are there for him to succeed.
With the addition of Ezra Cleveland, the Browns solidify their offense in the most crucial way. While they could look to add another guard in the draft (more on that), having a line of Cleveland, Wyatt Teller, J.C. Tretter, Joel Bitonio and Jack Conklin puts this unit in a situation that is miles ahead of what they trotted out last season.
