Round 2. Pick 51. CB. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 829. Trevon Diggs. player

Another name being thrown around that Dallas could be interested in is Alabama defensive back Trevon Diggs. There are those who think he could be a possibility at No. 17, but in this mock draft he slides much further than that as he’s still on the board at 51 — and the Cowboys should jump at the chance to sign him should things play out this way.

Dallas has a massive need at cornerback after allowing Byron Jones to leave in free agency. their first-round pick in 2015, Jones shuffled from cornerback to safety early in his career before returning to corner in 2018 under defensive backs coach Kris Richard.

Jones thrived in this role and it earned him a massive contract in free agency with the Miami Dolphins. Seeing him leave was tough but the Cowboys didn’t believe the position he played warranted a contract paying more than $18 million.

Instead, they’ll go into the season with Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis and Anthony Brown as the top three options. Diggs is now added to the group and he could become a contributor quickly. A former wide receiver — and the younger brother of Buffalo Bills wideout Stefon Diggs — Trevon boasts excellent size at 6-1 and 205 pounds.

His size will allow him to match up with any wideout in the game but he also has the speed to run with anyone. Where Diggs really will make fans in Big D though is his ability to get his hands on the ball. This has been a weakness for the Cowboys secondary for years but Diggs should help fix that major issue of theirs.
