player. Scouting Report. Pick 164. Shaquille Quarterman. LB. 834. Pick Analysis. Round 5

Stephen Jones has said linebacker isn’t a major need for Dallas and he’s probably telling the truth. Right now, they have too much invested in the position to go for depth early on in the draft but that doesn’t mean they won’t add someone in the draft.

In this mock, they do that with their fifth-round pick as they call on Shaquille Quarterman from Miami. Slightly undersized at 6-0 and 234 pounds, Quarterman was a four-year starter with a nose for the ball. He’s more of a throwback player who excels in the running game but leaves something to be desired in pass defense.

He could carve out a nice career simply due to his toughness and nose for the ball. Early on in Dallas, he would be a reserve but could find his way to the field a lot as he gets up to speed with the pro game.

TE. Charlie Woerner. Round 7. Pick 231. player. 814. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Dallas gave Blake Jarwin a nice four-year extension and will lean on him as their No. 1 tight end. With Jason Garrett gone, there’s reason to believe he could excel now that he will actually be used to his strength — which is as a weapon in the slot.

Behind him is Dalton Schultz and former Kansas City Chiefs backup Blake Bell. They could make due with this trio but don’t be surprised to see more talent brought in — although they wait until the final pick in the mock to do so as they take Charlie Woerner out of Georgia.

Unlike Jarwin, Woerner isn’t going to threaten teams much in the passing game but he can be a good option as a blocking tight end. He does this ease and can also be a force on special teams due to his athleticism.

Making the roster won’t be easy for Woerner but he has a lot of tools to work with, which is why the Cowboys take a late flier on him.
