2020 NFL Mock Draft: Unexpected first-round pick for each team
By Dan Parzych
Will the Jacksonville Jaguars end up regretting their decision to move on from Nick Foles after only one season?
Around this time last year, there was plenty excitement in Jacksonville over the idea of the Jaguars finally finding a new quarterback to build the franchise around in Foles after the Philadelphia Eagles decided to move forward with Carson Wentz, which really wasn’t a surprise.
In a way, the whole situation surrounding Foles was unfair since the former Super Bowl MVP suffered an injury right away in Week 1 last September, and didn’t exactly have the best offense to work with once he returned later in the year.
Moving forward, Jacksonville seems confident that Gardner Minshew II will be able to successfully run the offense, but also the Jaguars would benefit from keeping all options open in the draft.
Nothing against Minshew since there were numerous times last season in which he helped provide an amazing spark on offense for the Jaguars, but if the team were in position to upgrade with Jordan Love, this would seem like an easy decision.
Love is another prospect that has watched his stock rise over the last few months, and most likely won’t have to wait long in the first round to hear his name called with all the teams in need of an upgrade at quarterback.
The Jaguars may feel confident in Minshew being their starter moving forward, but once again if they have the chance to upgrade by landing Love, just imagine the possibilities.
