42. . Cornerback. San Francisco 49ers. Trevon Diggs. 13. player

How lucky are the San Francisco 49ers to earn an additional pick in the first round of this year’s draft due to a trade with the Indianapolis Colts this offseason?

The 49ers were already considered to be one of the early favorites in the NFC to make a run at the Super Bowl after earning a trip this past February, and if they take advantage of the two picks opening night, it will only increase their chances of punching a ticket to Tampa Bay in February.

Jimmy Garoppolo certainly received a ton of credit last season for helping lead the way on offense, but every football fan knows defense is going to be the deciding factor for San Francisco once again in 2020 if they are going to earn another trip to the Super Bowl.

Currently, there’s every reason to believe the 49ers will continue to have one of the league’s top defenses, but also the unit could use some depth at some positions, including cornerback.

Even though Alabama’s Trevon Diggs is projected to hear his name called on opening night of the draft, where he ends up in the first round has been popular to debate.

If the draft were to be held today, there’s a good chance that Diggs would end up going later in the first round, but joining a top unit in the 49ers would at least put him in great position to develop into a reliable cornerback in the NFL.

Not to mention, the potential opportunity for Diggs to work with a key veteran in Richard Sherman always helps.
