2020 NFL Mock Draft: Unexpected first-round pick for each team
By Dan Parzych
Speaking of teams expected to consider the idea of drafting a quarterback in the first round, it’s going to take some time to adjust to watching the Los Angeles Chargers now that Philip Rivers is no longer part of the picture.
As difficult as it must have been to move on from Rivers after all those years, this was clearly the right decision by the Chargers after watching the veteran quarterback take an unfortunate step back in 2019.
Time will tell when it comes to seeing if Los Angeles regrets their decision in moving on from Rivers while giving the keys to Tyrod Taylor on offense.
And while there is a strong chance that Los Angeles will use their first-round pick on a quarterback since this year’s class is loaded with talent, there is always the possibility of the Chargers adding another weapon for Taylor to work with in the passing game.
First off, let the record show that Taylor will be in pretty solid shape to begin with at wide receiver in 2020 having Keenan Allen and Mike Williams to work with, but adding a talented wideout in Jerry Jeudy would take this unit to new levels.
The fact that Jeudy hauled in 145 passes during his final two seasons at Alabama that also resulted in 24 touchdown catches shows the kind of impact this could have for Los Angeles in the passing game while putting the team in better shape to bounce back as a contender as well.
