2020 NFL Mock Draft: Unexpected first-round pick for each team
By Dan Parzych
Could Tua Tagovailoa end up slipping a bit in the first round of the draft due to injury concerns?
A few weeks ago, the Alabama star quarterback appeared to be a lock to be selected in the top five during the first round, but Tagovailoa is the perfect example of how quickly things can change in the NFL.
Depending on whether certain teams such as the Miami Dolphins will feel comfortable enough taking a risk on Tagovailoa, there’s a chance he could still be available for the Carolina Panthers at No. 7.
Moving on from Cam Newton this offseason must have been extremely difficult for the Panthers after seeing all of the accomplishments the former No. 1 pick put together over the years, but also it seemed like the right move after the results of last season.
With Newton no longer around, Carolina came up big in free agency by convincing Teddy Bridgewater to come on board for a whopping three-year deal, $63 million deal, which would make it seem like an easy decision to avoid a quarterback right away on draft night.
However, the Panthers are smart enough to realize there is no guarantee that things will work out for the best with Bridgewater, and bringing on a talented young prospect like Tagovailoa could at least provide some extra competition.
