2. Defensive Tackle

Another position that the Atlanta Falcons should look to add to in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft is on the defensive line and at defensive tackle.

Atlanta does currently contain Grady Jarrett in a defensive tackle role, one of the best interior pass rushers in the entire NFL. But outside of Jarrett, the Falcons need some help on the defensive line and at that spot.

Adding a player via the draft to this position would help make Jarrett even more dangerous and explosive among the Atlanta defense, providing Jarrett with a nice complementary piece alongside him that forces an opposing offense to also keep an eye on throughout the course of the game.

Acquiring and drafting a player that can both stop the run and also get to the quarterback on the Falcons defense is something they badly need ahead of the upcoming season. Atlanta has some depth at this position, but having depth doesn’t always mean that depth is of starting caliber on the defensive line.

It would be somewhat surprising if the Falcons ended up addressing this need in the first round or in the first few rounds, but Atlanta could strongly consider drafting a young prospect in this spot around the middle of the draft and with one of the multiple mid-draft selections they currently hold.

It would be more likely that the Falcons possibly target a defensive tackle somewhere around the third or fourth rounds, and just one name that could be on their radar at that point in the draft includes Utah’s Leki Fotu, a 330-pound tackle that could immediately fill that void for Atlanta.
