New Chargers uniforms are simply perfect for Los Angeles
The new Chargers uniforms were unveiled on Tuesday just prior to the 2020 NFL Draft and a new era in Los Angeles begins with universal praise.
The old adage goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. That could not be more applicable when it comes to the Los Angeles Chargers uniforms. Throughout the history of the franchise, the Chargers’ powder blue uniforms are seen as one of, if not the best uniforms in the entire NFL.
Their uniforms would go from progressively darker shades of blue starting in the mid-1980s until the team started wearing the classic powder blues as alternates entering the new millennium. And on Tuesday, they ushered in new uniforms for a new era that also pays homage to the past.
The Chargers took to their official Twitter page to unveil their new official uniforms to enter the decade of the 2020s:
Marvelous. Ravishing. Incandescent. There really aren’t enough adjectives in the English language to describe how awesome on the eye these new uniforms are. In an offseason where new uniform unveilings have been met with poor to mixed results, the Chargers hitting multiple-tape-measure home runs with every combination is welcoming if the Twitter replies are any indication.
While the Chargers have been wearing their powder blues more regularly in recent seasons, it’s the addition and return of the yellow pants and numbers on the helmet that really set these over the edge.
The Chargers are now the only team in the NFL with the numbers on the sides of the helmet, which gives them both a unique and classic look that harkens back to the AFL days of yesteryear. The popular color rush uniforms staying along with the new full-on navy set really bring the history of the Chargers’ uniforms full circle.
While the Chargers will certainly be looking good in the 2020s, fans will have to tune in to see who will hopefully be playing good in the new uniforms — and stadium — when the 2020 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday.
