Pick Analysis. 4. player. 852. Tyler Johnson. Scouting Report. Wide receiver. Minnesota

With this year’s wide receivers class being so deep, a player like Tyler Johnson gets overlooked. In other years he would go earlier in the draft but today he is a sleeper pick. Johnson does a good job of setting up his breaks on his route to put the defender off-balance, thus creating space. He needs that since he doesn’t have the quickness to do it.

Johnson measures in at 6-2 and weighs 202 pounds and he uses all of it to keep the defender from getting to the ball. You can see his basketball skills when he jumps for the ball like he’s going for a rebound.

He catches the ball with his hands away from his body, allowing him to make contested catches. He has good field vision and does a good job of getting yards after the catch. Additionally, he does a good job of finding the soft spot in zone coverage and taking advantage of it.

Johnson improved each season at Minnesota and had back-to-back seasons with 1,000-yards receiving and double-digit touchdown catches in his final two seasons. He’s not a speed burner but he uses his long strides to break away from defenders.

Johnson could be a good option after Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller. He can make plays on all three levels and help the offense move the sticks and score more points in 2020.
