Scouting Report. Kansas. Hakeem Adeniji. 5. player. 821. Pick Analysis. Offensive lineman

As I mentioned, many fans will be clamoring for an offensive lineman early in the draft. However, with the signings of Germain Ifedi and Jason Spriggs that need isn’t as great for the Chicago Bears front office’s thinking as it still is for the fans.

The Bears pick up Hakeem Adeniji to add some depth. They got caught without proper depth last season when the right side of the offensive line went down and there wasn’t anyone on the roster to effectively help.

Adeniji gives the Bears some flexibility as he primarily played tackle at Kansas but also played some guard. He projects primarily as a guard in the pros but his experience at tackle could be helpful if he’s needed in a pinch (he even snapped in practice so that may be of help as well).

Adeniji does a good job of placing his hands in the right place to create leverage. His technique is usually excellent. He has good lower body strength and does a good job with his drive blocking. He could open holes for the running game.

Adeniji has a lot of energy and loves hitting. However, he needs to reign in his aggressiveness since it negatively affects his technique. He tries to win too quickly then ends up off-balanced.

Adeniji is a good depth prospect who could battle for a starting job later. He’ll be in the mix for the backup guard. He’ll likely back up Cody Whitehair on the left side but could help out at other locations along the line.
