2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins score Joe Burrow in all-trades chaos edition
There should be many trades in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft but what if every pick was traded? It’s pure chaos in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
It’s finally the week of the 2020 NFL Draft. In mere days, the speculation, rumors and buzz will no longer matter as the teams will officially select the building blocks for their respective franchises — albeit in a first-time virtual draft. But until that time, we’re going to look at every angle we can with each 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
One of the interesting aspects of the 2020 NFL Draft is how trades could transpire given the virtual nature required due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Will we see more deals? Fewer? Just the same? It’s hard to say as this is unprecedented. But it feels safe enough to say that there will be movement given the positioning of some teams and the talent pool available.
Because teams want to keep things relatively secretive, we don’t know which trades are reality and will come to fruition on draft day and which are just speculation. So why not have a 2020 NFL Mock Draft where we put it all on the table, looking at a ton of different possible trade options that could happen on Thursday during the first round.
Admittedly, some of these trades are more realistic than others. But at the end of it all, all 32 first-round picks were traded in some for in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft, starting with the Miami Dolphins moving up to No. 1 overall.
Dolphins trade: No. 5, 18, 39 and 2021 second-rounder
Bengals trade: No. 1
There is absolutely no question that the Miami Dolphins have eyes on a quarterback. The speculation as of late, however, has been which signal-caller that they’re interested in.
For months, it appeared that Tua Tagovailoa, by some way or another, was destined to end up in South Beach. But as Round 1 draws closers, the murmurs that the Dolphins aren’t sold on the Alabama star and have a ton of intrigue in Justin Herbert have been growing louder. But what if they threw that by the wayside and traded up for Joe Burrow?
Fresh off winning the Heisman Trophy and leading LSU to the National Championship, Burrow emerged as the clear-cut No. 1 in the draft class. He’s a leader with pinpoint accuracy and athleticism to make plays outside of the script. He looks to be a stud that should be able to start from Day 1.
In truth, there is little likelihood that A. the Bengals would trade out of No. 1 or B. that the Dolphins would be willing to part with the amount of capital necessary to get up there. However, if one team has the need and ammunition to do it for Burrow, it’s Miami.
