2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins score Joe Burrow in all-trades chaos edition
Cowboys trade: No. 17 and 82
49ers trade: No. 13
There are two things that I believe to be true heading into the 2020 NFL Draft. The first is obvious in that the San Francisco 49ers want to make some deals with their two first-round picks (Nos. 13 and 31). While having two first-rounders would be valuable, San Francisco wouldn’t pick again until the 150s. For the team to stay in Super Bowl contention, that’s not a good look.
The other thing I believe is that the Dallas Cowboys will be aggressive in addressing their major needs on defense in the draft. They lost Byron Jones and Robert Quinn in free agency after both players were key cogs on that side of the ball. So Jerry Jones make the move up four picks to replace a former first-round pick in Jones by using the No. 13 pick on Florida’s C.J. Henderson.
Henderson brings a lot of the things Jones did to the table. He’s a tremendous athlete — though maybe not to the otherworldly degree that Jones was — and has the elite traits to be a lockdown player in man coverage. Henderson needs to become more physical but, in addressing the hole left by Jones, he’s more than capable as a coverage player.
While we haven’t heard much about it, I wouldn’t put a move of this ilk past the Cowboys if a player like Henderson falls closer to No. 15. He’s the exact player they need and, if they have to be aggressive to land him, they probably should be.
