Pick Analysis. Alabama. Henry Ruggs III. 14. Scouting Report. WR. player. 54

Eagles trade: No. 21 and 52
Buccaneers trade: No. 14 and 2021 third-rounder

After seeing the Dallas Cowboys get aggressive to get their guy, one of their biggest rivals does the same to address the biggest need on their roster. The Philadelphia Eagles trade up from the No. 21 pick to get the wide receiver they need.

In truth, a move up to No. 14 via a trade with the Buccaneers actually makes a lot of sense. If an offensive tackle the Buccaneers are comfortable taking at the spot to protect Tom Brady isn’t available to Tampa Bay, they would be best served trying to move down and gain more draft capital. Meanwhile, the Eagles need to get ahead of Denver at No. 15 if they want Henry Ruggs III, who would be perfect to help unlock the offense.

Philadelphia brought back DeSean Jackson last season with the hope that he would be able to unlock the offense and not have it bogged down with big-body No. 1 Alshon Jeffery. Instead, Jackson, Jeffery and virtually every receiver on the roster either struggled or was injured.

Ruggs can change that. While his elite speed is his winning trait, he’s also a better route-runner than he often gets credit for and can operate either on the outside or in the slot. He’s the vertical element that the Philly passing attack needs and this trade ensures that they get the player they need to add that.
