2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins score Joe Burrow in all-trades chaos edition
(Pick via Cowboys)
Acquiring a third-round pick and staying in the top 20 picks after trading down from No. 13 is a win for the San Francisco 49ers. Even though this is a team that was able win the NFC and came remarkably close to toppling Kansas City in Super Bowl LIV, the Niners are in a position where they need an influx of young talent on both sides of the ball if they are to continue competing at the top of the league in the near future and beyond.
Though Richard Sherman played like one of the elite cornerbacks in the NFL last season, he’s on the wrong side of 30 years old and his decline seemingly could come at any moment. With a shallow corner group overall as well, the 49ers do need to find some long-term viability at the position to maintain their high level of defensive performance moving forward. So that’s where Kristian Fulton comes into the fold.
While at LSU, Fulton started to emerge in 2018 when, as many people were watching Greedy Williams, it was Fulton who jumped off of the tape. And as good as he was then, he was even better in the 2019 season, despite what some might say. From physical traits to the right build to his technique, Fulton has everything NFL teams should want at the position and he could be a 10-year star for San Francisco at the position.
