Again, since they traded Patrick Peterson in this mock draft, the Cardinals could use a cornerback in the 2020 NFL Draft class. But with two early third-round picks, I believe Arizona has the ability to either move up for a player that could potentially fall into the end of the second round or they could stand pat and get a valuable player in the third round that could pair well with Byron Murphy and learn early on in their career behind Robert Alford.

One of the sneaky truths about the Cardinals right now is that their defensive line is quite abysmal. For several years, the hope was that Robert Nkemdiche would realize his potential but that never happened. Now they have Zach Allen, Jordan Phillips and Corey Peters as their potential starters on the D-line, which leaves a lot to be desired in terms of anything but solid cogs in that unit.

That’s why Javon Kinlaw is the pick with the No. 19 overall pick. The South Carolina product may not be the greatest run defender but, to maximize the value of players like Chandler Jones on this defense, the Cardinals must generate a pass rush from other spots. The suddenness and explosiveness of Kinlaw on the interior can provide that. He can be a player who unlocks some potential for the Arizona front seven and, frankly, makes corner a less dire need because the secondary won’t routinely need to cover for as long.
