Patrick Queen. 13. LSU. 20. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB

(Pick via Jaguars)

The additions that the Chargers have made in the 2020 offseason, despite losing Rivers at quarterback and Melvin Gordon at running back, are highly impressive.

On offense, Los Angeles retained tight end Hunter Henry, which is huge for the passing offense, and also re-signed Austin Ekeler after he proved his worth in a feature role last year. Furthermore, the additions of guard Trai Turner and tackle Bryan Bulaga are immediate upgrades on the offensive line that should help that unit immensely.

As for the defense, the additions of Chris Harris Jr. and Linval Joseph are huge for the secondary and defensive line, respectively. Having said that, the one unit on defense that still leaves a little bit to be desired for me is the linebacker spot. That’s why I think they use their newfound 20th overall pick on Patrick Queen.

The LSU product has limitless potential. Not only is Queen a great athlete with the athleticism to move all over the field against the run and in coverage but he has a tremendous natural feel for the game. When you take those instincts and couple it with the fact that he’s relatively inexperienced, his upside is through the roof.

If the Chargers could turn No. 6 into Mekhi Becton and Patrick Queen, it’s hard to see how they wouldn’t be happy.
