Iowa. Tristan Wirfs. 7. 53. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OT. player

Browns trade: No. 10, 74 and 2021 second-rounder
Panthers trade: No. 7 and 2021 fifth-rounder

It would be absolutely baffling to see the Cleveland Browns not take an offensive tackle in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. While much of the blame for the letdown 2019 season rightfully falls on Freddie Kitchens’ shoulders, the offensive line ultimately did them in. They’ve already added Jack Conklin in free agency. But with the right selection in the first round, they can become the team that many expected (or at least hoped) they’d be for the 2019 campaign in 2020.

At the same time, there is buzz that the Browns could be looking to trade back from the No. 10 overall pick because they have eyes for Ezra Cleveland out of Boise State. It’s not hard to see why as head coach Kevin Stefanski takes over. Cleveland is the athletic mover that would thrive in his system. But the tea leaves there say that the Browns would trade down for Cleveland because they don’t believe Tristan Wirfs will be there with the 10th pick.

In this chaotic NFL Mock Draft, however, the Browns make their move for Wirfs. I believe they are close enough to truly contending with the right pieces that they can afford to be aggressive, which is the move here. Wirfs is as athletic — if not more so — as Cleveland and is a more pro-ready prospect. He can come in and be a stalwart at tackle and be the savior of the Browns.
