2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins score Joe Burrow in all-trades chaos edition
(Pick via Jaguars)
The more that I’ve thought about it, the more I’m of the belief that the Chargers are not actually bluffing when they say they want to start Tyrod Taylor in the 2020 season. Do I believe they think that the 30-year-old veteran is their quarterback of the future? There’s no need to go that far. However, with the way that they’ve constructed this roster, they have the ability to win double-digit games with Taylor at the helm of the offense this year.
That’s why the Chargers trade down from No. 6 in this mock draft. Not only did they not have the opportunity to take any of the top-three quarterbacks in the class but they also can find more value for what they need pressingly by moving down. The biggest need that they have in terms of succeeding in 2020 is at offensive tackle. That’s why they take Mekhi Becton with the first selection they got from the Jaguars.
Becton is just a freak — and I say that in the most endearing way possible. The Louisville product tips the scales at north of 360 pounds with elite length but moves like he weighs about 290 pounds. He’s just a monster that also has some really nice technique to go with his physical traits. He can come in and fill the shoes of Russell Okung and give the Chargers all they need to win with Taylor at quarterback.
