OT. Louisville. 11. player. 30. Pick Analysis. Mekhi Becton. Scouting Report

The Pick: The Jets will likely take one of two positions: tackle or wide receiver. Considering general manager Joe Douglas comes from Howie Roseman’s school of linemen, I’d favor the tackle. In this case, New York will probably be stuck with whichever linemen is left to them.

There’s been recent concerns about Becton’s positive combine drug test and his weight. Honestly, I think the Big Apple would be a fine place for the Big Becton. The 6-7, 367-pound tackle fills an obvious need along the Jets’ offensive line and, surprise, would help protect Sam Darnold.

Alternative Picks: The only other option I considered here was a wide receiver. I passed because I don’t think it’s what Douglas would do. It’s his first draft since coming over from the Eagles, so little is known about his draft tendencies. Also, I can’t see any of the other tackles being here. A best-case scenario is having at least two of them available. I know I said I expect him to take a linemen, but this is the first selection where I seriously considered slotting a wide receiver.

As for which receiver, I have no idea. I’d want to say Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb, though SNY’s Alex Smith reported the team’s strong interest in Henry Ruggs during the combine.  I’m a fan of Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy, too, though Jeudy may slide down the board a bit. He’s well-rounded enough to immediately provide help for Darnold. As with any of the remaining picks, a trade down isn’t out of the picture.
