player. Scouting Report. CB. Florida. C.J. Henderson. Pick Analysis. 14. 52

The Pick: Surprise from the Sunshine State (again)! Jacksonville moved back up after trading down. Why? Well, they have the picks to do it. Also, they could really use a cornerback. And they seem to like guys from the University of Florida. Something about travel expenses, I don’t know. They’ve spent two early picks on former Gators in the last two drafts and have taken some with other first-round picks before.

The Jaguars need a cornerback and Henderson has been rumored to rise up draft boards lately. In this scenario, the Jaguars could send a third-round pick, yet receive a fifth-round pick as a sweetener. It looks good on the draft pick value chart, too.

Alternative Picks:  If Tampa Bay stays, it’s because they think they’re not in a worst-case scenario. Because that’s what it looks like here. They badly need offensive linemen. The top four are gone. I guess a cornerback isn’t that much of a stretch, but I’m not buying it.

Some people have Javon Kinlaw going here, but I don’t buy his fit along Tampa Bay’s defensive line. Offensive tackle is the ultimate goal. This is surprisingly a good roster, but that new quarterback down there needs protection. I’d doubt they reach for a running back, which they’ll certainly look to add later.

If Jacksonville reads this and thinks, “Not a bad idea, kid!” I’d immediately demand a paycheck. I was very tempted to take Kinlaw here. There’s a real chance he ends up a Jaguar. Jacksonville could also jump Denver and take a wide receiver, though I think they’re okay with adding a few later on.
