2020 NFL Draft: First-round mock and predictions for all 32 picks
By Zach Cohen
The Pick: Eagles general manager Howie Roseman doesn’t seem like the type of guy to take a wide receiver in the first round, yet here we are. Justin Jefferson’s selection to Philadelphia is a common one, and considering the team needs a ton of help at the position, this wasn’t too hard of a selection to make.
It just depends on which receiver the Eagles have fallen in love with. Not that choosing from a gazillion players is ever easy, but this pick was one of the simpler ones to make, even if I don’t agree with it due to the depth of the position. Maybe the team agrees?
Alternative Picks: A linebacker isn’t a bad alternative. Kenneth Murray or Patrick Queen would be fine, and realistic, options here, too. Edge rusher and cornerback are areas of need, yet the consensus pick still seems to be a wide receiver.
There’s been some rumblings that the team really loves Henry Ruggs, though they would have to move up to take him, barring a draft-day slide on Ruggs’ part. Roseman has been known to wheel-and-deal, so a trade certainly isn’t out of the question.
