8. player. 32. Pick Analysis. OT. Alabama. Jedrick Wills. Scouting Report

The Pick: To put it bluntly, Arizona’s offensive line isn’t the best. Kyler Murray was sacked 48 times last season, tied for the most in the NFL. There’s many realistic options here for the Cardinals, but if I’m them, I’m opting to find Murray’s blindside protector first. I’ve seen an offensive linemen mocked here a lot lately, therefore that’s what I’m going with by having them select Jedrick Wills Jr.

It makes too much sense, even after the team extended D.J. Humphries on the left side.

Alternative Picks: Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller has noted Derrick Brown as a possibility here, but I don’t know if I buy it. While I agree Arizona can use some help defensively, I’m mostly getting an offensive line vibe at this pick.

If it were a defensive player, Jeffrey Okudah and Isaiah Simmons have been connected to the team, though not as much as Wills has. Arizona might prefer Tristan Wirfs, so if he’s here he could be the selection.

The trade winds are starting to heat up as we move closer to the teens, and the Cardinals could easily send this selection to a team like Atlanta. Once upon a time, this selection could easily have been a wide receiver. I think the arrival of a man named DeAndre Hopkins has changed things. I’d say it’s 50-50 that the Cardinals stay or trade down.
