Pick 51. CB. player. Round 2. Trevon Diggs. 829. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Patience ends up paying off nicely for the Cowboys as they still get a starting-caliber cornerback after deciding to go with an edge rusher in the first round. Trevon Diggs ends up sliding until the second round and Dallas happily snatches him up with the 51st overall selection.

Diggs is the younger brother of Buffalo Bills wideout Stefon Diggs and like his older sibling, he too played wideout. However, Trevon ended up moving to cornerback and it was something that suited him well. Built like a wideout at 6-foot-1 and 205-pounds, Diggs excels in press coverage and can frustrate receivers in this area.

He’s also got great ball skills, which makes sense considering the fact that he did play wideout earlier in his football career. There are concerns about his long-speed and he didn’t run the 40-yard dash at the Combine so those questions weren’t put to bed.

Still, that feels a bit overblown as he’s shown off his wheels as a return man and even covered the length of the field on a punt return touchdown against Tennessee during his Alabama tenure. In the end, those concerns help Dallas as Diggs lasts longer than he should and they get themselves a solid starter to play opposite Chidobe Awuzie.
