Pick 82. Nick Harris. player. Pick Analysis. Round 3. C. 818. Scouting Report

Ahead of the draft, the word has been that the Cowboys are eyeing Michigan center Cesar Ruiz as a potential replacement for Travis Frederick who retired recently. Frederick, a former first-round pick, was a key piece of the once-dominant Dallas line and replacing him won’t be easy.

Ruiz might be the one player in this draft that could have a shot to taking over and making things a smooth transition. The problem is, they’re not likely to use the No. 17 pick on the position, meaning the only way Ruiz is the pick, is if they trade back.

In this mock, trades weren’t predicted and Ruiz was gone long before their second-round choice. That means they move to plan B, which is to grab Washington center Nick Harris. While not as refined as the Michigan product, Harris is a quick-footed center that wins often with his hard work and hustle. He’s not a versatile player that can suit up all along the line, which is what leads to him lasting till the third round.

However, in Dallas, this won’t be an issue. Harris will be asked to man just one position, which will be right in the middle of their offensive line.
