2020 NFL Draft: 20 Bold predictions for first round

9. Patriots trade up to draft Love
Are the New England Patriots really that confident in Jarrett Stidham being able to handle the starting role at quarterback now that Tom Brady is no longer around to help keep the team a top contender in the AFC?
Watching Brady leave the Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will easily go down as one of the biggest surprises from the NFL offseason, and one can only imagine the high level of pressure Stidham is going to be feeling come training camp.
But also, since there is no guarantee that Stidham has what it takes to be the answer New England is looking for, the best option seems to be bringing on another young quarterback through the draft to provide some extra competition.
Since the Patriots won’t officially be on the clock until later in the first round, trading up to secure someone like Jordan Love could be their best option to avoid another team swooping in to draft the Utah State quarterback.
Love will need to improve in a few key areas in the NFL such as field vision and his surroundings, but one of the best parts about the opportunity to work under Bill Belichick is how much he will benefit from a developmental perspective.
