2020 NFL Draft: 20 Bold predictions for first round

6. Dolphins choose Herbert over Tagovailoa
Even though rumors are swirling at the moment over the possibility of the Miami Dolphins trading up in the first round to land an offensive lineman, drafting a quarterback at No. 5 obviously shouldn’t be ruled out.
As great as it would be to see things work out for Josh Rosen with the Dolphins, the former first-round pick is far from a guarantee to succeed in the NFL.
In other words, the last thing Miami should want to do is pass on a top quarterback from this year’s class, and regret their decision down the road if Rosen turns out to be a bust.
For months, there has been plenty of speculation over the likelihood of the Dolphins using the fifth overall pick to select Tua Tagovailoa, but unfortunately recent injury concerns, along with a few other factors, has made it clear that Miami is exploring all options.
If the Dolphins decide to stick with quarterback, and realize there’s too much risk surrounding Tagovailoa, another solid option early in the first round could be Oregon’s Justin Herbert.
Herbert is one of a few quarterbacks who has seen his stock rise since January, and while the 61 touchdown passes during his final two years with the Ducks was certainly impressive, the limited turnovers arguably stand out the most.
There aren’t many quarterbacks who can make the claim they threw single-digit interceptions in each of their four years at college, but Herbert can. He can also be a great player for Miami to develop moving forward.
