4. Giants pull surprise by going Thomas No. 4

Despite some of the recent reports suggesting the New York Giants are doing their homework on Oregon’s Justin Herbert, chances are this is most likely being done to just scare other teams behind them in the first round looking to land a top quarterback.

Around this time last year, the Giants pulled off one of the biggest surprises from the first round by going with Daniel Jones, mainly due to the fact there were plenty of other great quarterback options available.

Jones clearly still has plenty to prove when it comes to showing he can be the best long-term option for New York under center, but at least New York saw plenty of impressive performances from his rookie campaign to believe so.

While Jones is clearly fortunate enough to have one of the league’s top young offensive weapons in Saquon Barkley to work with in the backfield, the Duke product could still use some additional help on offense.

If New York decides to hold off focusing on improving the defense in the first round, a surprise option to consider at No. 4 could be Georgia’s Andrew Thomas, who has been drawing interest as one of the top offensive linemen from this year’s class.

Providing the proper projection for Jones is going to be extremely important for the Giants moving forward, and Thomas seems like the kind of lineman who is capable of making an impact right away as a rookie.

With New York showing potential to become a sleeper contender in the NFC if Jones comes through with a strong sophomore campaign, the addition of Thomas could end up being a major step in the right direction.
