2020 NFL Mock Draft, final 7-round prediction: Patriots trade up for QB
(Pick via Bears) It’s hard to think of the draft board falling more ideally for the Las Vegas Raiders than the way it does here. With the 12th overall pick, they were able to get the receiving weapon that they need for the offense to start making strides. Now with their second pick in the top 20, the Raiders are able to address a barren secondary group by selecting Kristian Fulton.
Fulton started to get buzz in the 2018 season when he outplayed Greedy Williams but that buzz only grew stronger after he was even better this past year. He’s got long speed, quickness and fluidity to go with a great football IQ for the position, which allows him to match up with any type of player in coverage and succeed. The Raiders need that type of player to not get burned consistently when defending the pass.
(Pick via Rams) Another Jaguars first-round pick and they still don’t take a cornerback. With the Raiders taking Fulton on the board, I don’t see the Jaguars being in any hurry to address the position right now because it’s a deep class and they can get a higher-tier prospect at another position of need on defense — specifically at safety with Xavier McKinney.
For me, McKinney isn’t the most exciting prospect in the world but that’s also what makes him valuable. Jacksonville could move him all over the field with his versatility as a run defender and coverage player and find success. They don’t have that player right now and McKinney could be a building block for the defense to try and start recapturing its previous form.
