TRADE ALERT: Colts send No. 34 and 122 to Seahawks for No. 27

Are there players available with the No. 27 pick that could help the Seattle Seahawks? Most certainly. Do I have faith that A. the Seahawks would take the right guy if they stood pat or B. the Seahawks can resist trading down, something that they seemingly love to do? The answer to both parts of that question is no.

Armed with the No. 34 pick, the Colts get aggressive and trade back into the first round to get a successor at quarterback in Jordan Love. All tools with a ton of development ahead, the Colts want a fifth year on Love’s rookie deal but also get to groom him behind Philip Rivers for at least the 2020 season. That’s an ideal fit for player and team.

IOL. Michigan. Pick Analysis. 28. player. 26. Scouting Report. Cesar Ruiz

With both of the linebackers (Queen and Murray) that would seemingly be in play for the Baltimore Ravens at the No. 28 pick already off the board, some people would turn their eyes to a wide receiver. For me though, the Ravens need to replace future Hall-of-Famer Marshal Yanda on the interior of the offensive line if they are going to continue their dominance on that side of the ball.

Cesar Ruiz is the best interior offensive lineman in the class and Baltimore makes the call to grab him here. He is an exceptional blend of mobility and functional strength that is supplemented that he’s a polished player in terms of his technique. Inserting him to replace Yanda may not be a one-for-one switch but they Ravens should hardly miss a beat with the Michigan product on the roster.
