2020 NFL Mock Draft, final 7-round prediction: Patriots trade up for QB
TRADE ALERT: Falcons send No. 16 and 47 to Jaguars for No. 9 and 116
We made it through the first eight picks in the first round without a trade in this final 2020 NFL Mock Draft but that’s all changing now as I can see the middle of Round 1 being a hotbed for trades. And that starts with one of the most widely reported moves around the league in that the Atlanta Falcons want to move up into the top 10 to take a defensive playmaker. C.J. Henderson is, for me, the obvious target.
After parting with Desmond Trufant, there is no cornerback on the Falcons roster that you could consider a reliable and/or proven commodity as a coverage player. The Florida product has the potential to be a stud in that regard. Henderson can come in and be a lockdown force on the outside and, if Dan Quinn can coach up his physicality and tackling, he should waste little time becoming one of the league’s better players at the position.
TRADE ALERT: Broncos send No. 15 and 77 to Browns for No. 10
Another trade that we’ve heard a lot about, this time on both ends. Currently at No. 10, the Cleveland Browns reportedly want to move back in the first round in the interest of acquiring more draft capital and still targeting a player they like to address their primary need at offensive tackle. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos reportedly want to move up from No. 15 to ensure they land the wide receiver they want.
The wide receiver they want is Henry Ruggs III and it’s easy to see why. Obviously, speed kills at any level of football and the Alabama product has it in droves. But he’s also a better route-runner than some admit and also has the ability to create after the catch beyond his speed. Adding him to the fold alongside Courtland Sutton would give the Broncos a tremendous pair of complementary receivers who should help Drew Lock thrive as he enters his second season.
