2020 NFL Mock Draft, final 7-round prediction: Patriots trade up for QB
(Pick via Broncos) I could be way off base here but hear me out. It’s easy to buy the idea that the Browns want to trade out of No. 10 because they have eyes for Ezra Cleveland at offensive tackle. However, taking the Boise State product at No. 15 or any spot I see them realistically trading down to seems far-fetched to me. Moreover, Cleveland should be available to the Browns at No. 41 when they pick again.
Subsequently, I believe the trade back in the first round is to get better value in addressing their second biggest need, which is at linebacker. Patrick Queen only has one year as a starter in college under his belt, but it was a heck of a year. He got better throughout the year and displayed all the tools as a blend of sideline-to-sideline run defense and coverage instincts any team should covet. He could be an answer to a glaring hole on the Browns defense while still allowing them to get the tackle they want later on.
(Pick via Falcons) After trading down from the No. 9 pick with the Falcons, the Jacksonville Jaguars now have multiple options as to what they can do. While they traded away their star secondary over the past year, the fact that they traded out of a spot where they could’ve taken C.J. Henderson leads me to believe they wouldn’t take a quarterback here. Instead, they look to get their defensive line back on track.
Jacksonville ends Derrick Brown‘s precipitous fall down the board and he seems like a great fit for this team. I can truthfully see the Auburn product falling out of the top 15 because of his lack of athletic traits. But even still, the Jaguars are getting a player who proved in the SEC he can be a physically dominant force capable of stuffing the run and simply bull-rushing his way to rushing the passer.
