The Baltimore Ravens made the most Ravens pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by drafting former LSU linebacker Patrick Queen.

The 2019 NFL MVP, Lamar Jackson, helped the Baltimore Ravens dominate the AFC North but they fell short in the playoffs. General manager Eric DeCosta looked to the first round for a player that could help push them over the hump. They didn’t have to trade up, nor were they baited into trading down. With the No. 28 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, selected LSU linebacker Patrick Queen.

The 6-0, 230-pound linebacker is a plug-and-play day one starter that fits the most of linebacker’s past. A few years ago, the Ravens selected C.J. Mosley, who became a perennial Pro Bowl and All-Pro before moving on to the New York Jets.

Like the former SEC linebacker, Queen provides a similar skill set. The former LSU Tiger is a missile to the football. He has elite quickness and speed which he showed at the NFL Combine with a 4.5-second 40-yard dash.

Queen is known for his instincts and his ability to diagnose plays. His short-area quickness is second to none and he makes plays through the trash. Despite his size, he has excellent pop when going against guards and uses his hands well. He’s a force in the middle downhill but he has excellent range in coverage.

With the newly acquired Calais Campbell to help bolster the defensive line, adding Queen gives them an immediate boost at linebacker. Queen will compete for Rookie of the Year thanks to his surrounding talent and what he brings to the table.

Although he has traits reminiscent of a pro, he was only a one-year starter in his college career (even if it was because he was playing behind former top-10 pick Devin White. Queen has a high ceiling and there’s no better place for him to reach it than with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens have the versatility at linebacker they missed when Mosley left. Look for Queen to command the middle and earn his striped early. If all goes well, the Ravens may have found themselves yet another All-Pro linebacker.
