The Green Bay Packers delivered one of the shocks of the first round, trading up to select quarterback Jordan Love at No. 26 in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, there were a multitude of different places that the Green Bay Packers could have gone. Wide receiver, offensive tackle or a defensive front-seven player were all options. Instead, they selected quarterback Jordan Love after trading up from No. 30 to No. 26.

The best way to describe Love is volatile. There are many plays in which he looks like a legit NFL player. He will sling the ball in the tightest of windows with his rocket arm and he will make plays on the run that are obvious NFL throws. Love simply has talent that you can not teach.

But then there are the negatives. Love does have supreme talent and traits that will allow him to make incredible throws. On the other hand, he has many ugly plays. Love has poor vision and will make ugly throws, just not seeing linebackers underneath. He will also make errant throws far too often that end up in the chest of a cornerback.

No matter what your opinion is of Love, you can find plays that support your opinion. If you think Love is good, look no further than his outings versus New Mexico or UNLV in 2018. If you don’t like Love, look no further than his games against LSU or Nevada in 2019.

This pick is hard to grade for many different reasons. Love is extremely raw with many negative throws. But he does have a massive upside to his game. The other interesting part about this pick by the Packers is that Aaron Rodgers still is more than serviceable — yet the Packers traded up for Love.

Scouting Report. Utah State. D+. player. Pick Analysis. QB. Jordan Love. 49

Ultimately, I am giving this pick a D+. Even though I am not a fan of Love, I believe there is some optimism. Love has some big negatives, but there some traits to his game that are undeniably great.

Five or six years from now, this pick could end up being an A grade pick with how good Jordan Love could possibly be. But this pick also has the possibility to be an F with how bad Love could be.
