The Packers need depth at safety, especially since Ibraheim Campbell is still on the market as an unrestricted free agent. Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage Jr. are obviously two capable starters, but behind them is minimal depth. Raven Greene, a former undrafted free agent, is likely the third option currently on the depth chart.

Clemson safety Tanner Muse would be an excellent pick in the fifth or sixth round. Because of his size (6-2, 227 pounds) and physicality, Muse could also double as a linebacker. He’d fit in nicely in Mike Pettine’s heavily-utilized dime package (six defensive backs) as a hybrid linebacker/safety, similar to how Campbell was used last season. Additionally, Muse would be a special teams maestro with his combination of size and speed.

Muse was a workout warrior at the NFL Combine, running a 4.41 in the 40-yard dash, putting up 20 reps on the bench press and jumping 34.5 inches in the vertical leap. He was a key contributor for Clemson in 2019, earning third-team AP All-American and first-team All-ACC honors. He finished with 74 tackles (six for loss), four interceptions and five passes defensed.

Muse would give the Packers depth at linebacker, safety and special teams, essentially offering positional versatility in one selection.
