Scouting Report. Offensive Tackle. Louisville. Mekhi Becton. 30. Pick Analysis. 11. player

Grade: B+

It’s no secret that the New York Jets were looking to make moves along the offensive line during the draft. So when they took Mekhi Becton at No. 11 overall, it made perfect sense. And I don’t have a problem with the selection, which is why it gets a B+ from me.

Becton is huge but is an elite athlete considering his size. He has great movement skills, gets off the ball well and is more than capable of moving to the next level. He handles speed rushers well and can dominate as a run defender. Then again, he should be able to at 360 pounds.

The problem is the weight, which was a concern at times during his Louisville career. With that said, as long as he stays dedicated and stays mentally tough, he shouldn’t have any trouble carving out an extended career with the Jets.

Becton was a superbly intriguing prospect coming into the draft, and New York couldn’t pass on his mix of size and athleticism. I don’t blame them.
