Defensive End. 2. player. 58. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. Chase Young

Grade: A+

This was the right pick for the Washington Redskins, who get easily the top talent in the 2020 draft class without having to trade up to acquire the No. 1 overall pick. And if Chase Young lives up to his potential, it’ll be quite the steal.

There’s just no way around it — Young has the makings of a superstar pass rusher. He’s a physical prototype, his power and instincts off the edge are uncanny, and his production speaks for itself. Despite guys like Joey Bosa and Nick Bosa recently coming out of the program, Young broke the Ohio State single-season sack record in 2019 with 16.5 quarterback takedowns.

The only knocks I can see on this pick are the fact that the Redskins have plenty of talent up front. They’ve recently spent significant draft upgrading their front seven, including three of their last four first-round picks. And yet, when there’s a potential generational talent up for grabs, do you really ignore him because you’ve got Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat?

Exactly. Even with Jeff Okudah on the board, drafting Young was the way to go for Washington.
