Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 4. player. Offensive Tackle. Georgia. Andrew Thomas. 31

Grade: B

The Giants could have gone in a number of directions with this pick, but grabbing one of the 2020 draft class’ top offensive tackles made perfect sense. New York obviously wanted to make sure their investment in Daniel Jones from a year ago was well protected moving forward.

The only reason this pick gets a B is the fact that, in my opinion, there were better options at offensive tackle. Yes, Thomas is a safe pick with a high ceiling who can step in from Day 1 and be a quality starter. However, with the No. 4 overall pick, is that really what you’re looking for? Sounds a bit underwhelming considering the positioning in the draft.

Either way, that’s the pick. The Giants get a smart, dependable blocker who has experience on both sides of the line. He’s a consistent pass blocker, displays tremendous football IQ and has the size/athleticism combo to win on the blindside in the NFL.

Personally, I would have preferred Jedrick Wills Jr. at this spot in the draft considering his higher ceiling. But I’m not the Giants GM — Dave Gettleman is.
