2020 NFL Draft: Grades for all 32 first-round picks
Grade: B+
Suddenly, the future looks much brighter for the Miami Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa may not be Joe Burrow, but he’s a top quarterback talent in his own right capable of turning a struggling franchise around. That’s why the Dolphins get an A for this one.
Yes, there are some immediate concerns. The first and most obvious one is the fact that Tagovailoa is coming off a serious hip injury that cost him the end of his final season at Alabama. There’s also size, which we’ve seen in recent years isn’t as big of an issue (examples: Drew Brees and Russell Wilson).
Either way, no more Ryan Fitzpatrick. No more Josh Rosen. No more mediocrity at quarterback. The Dolphins spent a lot of money this offseason making upgrades at a number of positions. Now they’ve got their quarterback of the future in Tagovailoa, who should bring some left-handed excitement to a franchise that’s lacked it for years.
It’s unclear if he’ll start right away, but Tagovailoa is the future for Miami.
