Round 7 (No. 216 Overall): Kamren Curl, DB

With the 216th overall pick, Washington selected Kamren Curl. Curl is a safety out of Arkansas. And he gives Washington some help in the secondary. Entering the draft, defensive backs were a position of need for the Redskins. This was their first pick addressing that. It was a good one too.

Curl was a three-year starter for Arkansas. What makes him special is that he was a cornerback when he first got there. So he’s played both corner and safety. Curl has versatility and athleticism. He can help against the run and be very solid in coverage. Last season he even showed he can get to the quarterback (two sacks).

Just 21 years old as he joins Washington, Curl has a lot of time to grow. However, he also already has a ton of experience so he can help the team immediately.

Ultimately, landing Curl early in the seventh round is a great value pick. The Arkansas product is someone that can play right away and grow into a star in the future. Curl could become a fan favorite as he works to reach his potential.
