With the 2020 NFL Draft in the books, let’s look back and grade the busy draft for the Minnesota Vikings during the seven rounds.
The Minnesota Vikings entered the 2020 NFL Draft from April 23-25 with the important task of filling some holes that would be crucial to both the current state of the team and the future of the organization moving forward.
This year’s draft was one of the more important drafts for Minnesota in the last handful of years as they hope to retool and return to the postseason during the 2020 season.
Already this offseason, the Vikings have seen multiple players depart from the team through free agency or by waiving some key players from a season ago, which meant they would have to rely heavily upon their large amount of draft picks in the annual seven-round draft over the weekend.
Heading into the draft currently sitting in somewhat of a tough spot when it comes to the team salary cap and its lack of capability to try and outbid other teams for free agents on the open market, Minnesota was able to add some intriguing prospects in the draft that will provide the organization with some salary-friendly contracts both this year and for at least the next few seasons.
The Vikings already came into the 2020 NFL Draft sitting near the top of the list of teams who had the most draft selections, containing 12 overall picks in the draft, including two selections in the first round on Thursday.
By the end of Day 3 of the draft on Saturday, Minnesota ended up making 15 total picks while addressing its biggest needs most notably at wide receiver, defensive back and within both the offensive and defensive lines.
Now with the 2020 draft over and done with, let’s look back at each day of the draft and grade the performance of the Vikings during the seven-round draft.
