Vikings Day 3 Grade for 2020 NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings entered the third and final day of the 2020 NFL Draft on Saturday with more picks in rounds four through seven than it entered the entire draft with just two days prior.

Minnesota, which already was slated to have 12 picks in this year’s draft, made a few trades during days one and two to add more picks in day three on Saturday. The Vikings entered the fourth round with a total of 13 picks scheduled to take place during the final four rounds.

After striking a few deals to add some future draft assets in years to come, Minnesota finished the third and final day by making 11 total picks to bring the three-day total to 15.

In rounds four through seven, the Vikings ended up selecting at No. 117 (4th round), No. 130 (4th round), No. 132 (4th round), No. 169 (5th round), No. 176 (5th round),  No. 203 (6th round), No. 205 (6th round), No. 225 (7th round), No. 244 (7th round), No. 249 (7th round) and No. 253 (7th round).

With those picks, Minnesota mainly addressed the defensive side of the ball while also adding some depth in various places within the offense.

The Vikings will end up bringing in Day 3 players like South Carolina defensive end D.J. Wonnum, Baylor defensive tackle James Lynch, Oregon linebacker Troy Dye, Temple cornerback Harrison Hand, Miami wide receiver K.J Osborn, Oregon State offensive lineman Blake Brandel, Michigan safety Josh Metellus, Michigan State defensive lineman Kenny Willekes, Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley, Mississippi State safety Brian Cole II and Washburn offensive lineman Kyle Hinton.

It would have been nice to see the Vikings try and use some of the Day 3 picks on Saturday to convert those into future picks, but Minnesota did ultimately end up utilizing most of those selections on the final day of the draft to add some depth for this year and beyond. For that reason, the Vikings get a grade of C+ for their performance on Saturday afternoon.
