Iowa State. 14. QB. player. 28. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Brock Purdy

The Las Vegas Raiders under the watch of head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock are one of the most fascinating teams in the league to watch as it pertains to the NFL Draft. It seems as if they’re operating on a different plane than the rest of the league, for better or worse.

What’s clear, however, is that they worked hard in the 2020 draft to give Derek Carr (or Marcus Mariota) every opportunity to prove that he’s a quarterback that they can win a Super Bowl with as they added one weapon after another to the wide receiver corp. The issue, however, is that I don’t believe Carr is that guy.

Subsequently, I can see them finally moving on from Carr and bringing in a quarterback who gives the Raiders far more upside. That’s what Iowa State’s Brock Purdy can be — even though he’s unlikely to play in the College Football Playoff, which might take him off the Raiders’ board in the first round.

Purdy threw for almost 4,000 yards with the Cyclones last season and is the clear-cut QB3 in the 2021 NFL Draft class. He has a nice arm, though he is a bit undersized at 6-1, and has the ability to make plays with his legs. Purdy has the potential to actually take advantage of the newfound arsenal of weapons for Las Vegas.
