Tanner Morgan. Pick Analysis. QB. Minnesota. 22. player. 47. Scouting Report

This might look absolutely insane six months from now but I’m sticking to my gut and what I saw in the 2019 season from Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback Tanner Morgan. At the helm of the offense that saw the Golden Gophers have arguably the greatest modern season in the history of the program, Morgan was simply phenomenal throughout the season under the direction of P.J. Fleck and made a massive jump in his development.

After completing under 59 percent of his throws in nine games of action as a freshman, Morgan upped that to a 66 percent completion rate as he threw for 3,253 yards, 30 scores and only seven interceptions. He doesn’t have the biggest arm but he has enough of one and he plays with a ton of poise and great decision-making under center. If he progresses further, he’s going to be discussed as a viable first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He’s the pick for the New England Patriots here as we still don’t have a clue what Bill Belichick’s plan is at the position right now. They balked on quarterbacks in the 2020 draft, which indicates that they could be looking towards one of several veterans. However, the long-term options remain in question for the Pats, which is why Morgan would potentially make sense for them right here.
