WR. Clemson. 24. 49. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Justyn Ross. player

When talking about the Bengals earlier, I mentioned that I wasn’t particularly high on Tee Higgins. Part of that is just simply due to the fact that he lacks the athletic profile that I’d like for a top-40 pick at wide receiver. But beyond that, I also believe that he benefitted from playing opposite Justyn Ross at Clemson over the past two years.

Ross is a massive target that has made life difficult for opposing defenses over the past two seasons with Trevor Lawrence throwing the ball his way. His 6-4 frame makes him a big play waiting to happen as he can simply win in any contested situation in college and, truthfully, should be able to in the NFL as well.

As a freshman, Ross averaged 21.7 yards per reception and has 112 catches for 1,865 yards and 17 scores over his two seasons with the Tigers. The questions about him will be about just how athletic he actually is and if he has enough juice to move up draft boards.

Regardless of that, the Green Bay Packers not drafting a wide receiver in 2020 could have them sued by Aaron Rodgers for negligence. They can’t do that again and taking Ross in the first round gives them a player who fits the profile they like but with college production and tape to warrant a top pick.
