54. CB. Georgia. Eric Stokes. 25. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles have been drug through the coals over the course of the 2020 draft and it’s not difficult to see why. They needed a wide receiver and took one in the first round but Jalen Reagor was seemingly a lesser prospect than Justin Jefferson, who was still on the board. But it was the Jalen Hurts pick in Round 2 that really got people up in arms. I’m still trying to make sense of it, especially because the defense still needed more attention paid to the secondary.

To be sure, the Eagles remain in a good overall position to compete to win the NFC East and to be in the playoffs next season if they can stay healthy. Their defensive front seven is that good and they did add some good weapons late in the draft along with Reagor that should open up the offense. But for long-term team-building, the Eagles must pay more attention to the cornerback room.

A big-time recruit to Georgia, Eric Stokes has the makeup of a very good NFL corner. He has the length you want to see at the position on his 6-1, 185-pound frame and has enough athleticism to hang with most anyone on the boundary. You’d like to see his ball production have an uptick in 2020 as he has no interceptions over two seasons but the film shows a good player that would be an upgrade for the Philadelphia secondary opposite of Darius Slay.
