Tennessee Titans: Grading every pick in 2020 NFL Draft
By John Laird
Round 2, Pick 61: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Grade: A+
Jon Robinson has flourished in the second round of the NFL Draft, attaining highly talented players such as Derrick Henry, Harold Landry, A.J. Brown and now LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton. Fulton fills the Titans’ most pressing need and has the potential to develop into a high caliber cover corner.
In the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, it was evident the Titans as an entire team could stand to get faster. While he was solid in just about every phase of the game defensively, current free-agent cornerback Logan Ryan doesn’t really help with that speed issue.
Fulton has shown throughout his collegiate career he can stick with the fastest receivers down the field, such as top picks this year Henry Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy.
Fulton combines that speed with solid technique and great instincts when it comes to making a play on the ball in the air. Another thing to like about Fulton is the amount of time he spent playing press-man coverage for LSU last year, going as far as to say he played that kind of coverage approximately 80 percent of the time.
This pick gets an A+ due to the need at the position and the value of getting a player of this caliber at No. 61, as well as the speed dynamic Fulton brings. Coming into a situation where Malcolm Butler and Adoree Jackson are the top corners allows Fulton to have an easier transition, as he isn’t thrown into the fire having to cover opposing team’s number one or even number two pass catchers. This is an all-around fantastic fit.
