2020 NFL Draft grades for every team: Cowboys ace test, Packers falter
By Randy Gurzi
Dallas Cowboys
Entering the 2020 NFL Draft, the general consensus around the Dallas Cowboys was that they needed to fill some of their massive holes on defense. After losing Robert Quinn, Maliek Collins, and Byron Jones in free agency, the Cowboys needed to find players who could fill their vacated spots.
They did well in free agency picking up Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe, but they still needed an edge rusher and cornerback in the worst way. With nearly every mock draft putting a player such as K’Lavon Chaisson on Dallas, the Cowboys went a different direction since CeeDee Lamb was still there for the taking.
Lamb was arguably the top wideout in the class and Dallas landed him at No. 17. It wasn’t a huge need but there’s still a spot for him to play after losing Randall Cobb. Dallas then continued to hit home runs as they landed Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs in the second round and Oklahoma defensive tackle Neville Gallimore in the third.
They continued hitting it out of the park adding Reggie Robinson from Tulsa to their defensive backfield before moving up in the fourth round for Tyler Biadasz who could replace Travis Frederick and somehow landed Bradlee Anae in the fifth.
All of their picks were graded much higher than they went and it almost makes up for them drafting Taco Charlton over T.J. Watt in 2017 and Trysten Hill over Juan Thornhill in 2019. Not completely, but almost.
